You’ve been sitting in front of the window, staring out into the city for a couple hours. You’ve watched as people came out of their offices and headed for taxis or cars or headed into the subway. You watched the street food vendors pack up for the day as the last of the suburbanites head home and there isn’t enough demand.
He finds you there. He puts two cups of coffee and a bag that smells like takeout. Doesn’t say anything, just sits on the chair next to you and stares at you. Lets you finish your contemplation of the city.
"Hey," you say, voice raspy with lack of use.
"Hi," he replies. "Feeling better?"
You nod slowly. “Yeah. You’re here now.”
He smiles. “I will follow you anywhere you lead.”
