Do you know what happened to the Targaryen children when the Mad King fell? They were butchered in their sleep. On the orders of Tywin Lannister and the years have not made him kinder.

OH YEAH. HE SHOULD’VE LISTENED TO CAT EVERYBODY. IT’S ROBB WHO STARTED THIS WAR EVERYBODY. HE JUST MARCHED OFF TO WAR WHILE ALL THE ADULTS SCREAMED STOP. OKAY.

(not that my ranting has anything to do with how gorgeous this set is. seriously, kudos)

Please tell me that you are being sarcastic. Anyone who has read a storm of swords knows that Littlefinger and Lysa Arryn set all of the events in motion. Yes, they didn’t start the war, but they killed Jon Arryn-the first in a series of unfortunate events.

hahaha no, that was def sarcasm. Sorry. There’s just always so much reference to Robb “starting a war” (that he never started) all on his own while Cat was the complete and perfect voice of utter peaceable reason and wow Robb is just tooooo stupid. And it pisses me off. Because they both have tragic flaws and they both have incredible positive qualities, but somehow it always turns into a Cat vs Robb screaming match in the tags. Which is just silly ‘cause they’re fighting on the same side, I don’t even…

Of course you realize that this gifset shows Catelyn’s advice before Riverrun was freed (in the corresponding point in the book timeline) and Ned was dead, right?

You realize that when people are angry that Robb didn’t listen to Cat, they’re talking about how he didn’t listen to her when she pointed out that the situation changed completely after Riverrun was freed and recovering Ned was impossible (ie, changed completely after no tangible goals were left to go to war for), right?

That is absolutely NEVER an argument I have heard in the over two years I have been running this blog and actively engaging in dissecting what happened with their arc down to the very last word so no, I don’t see how anyone can say that’s what the entire fandom is saying. That’s what you’re saying right now. But go back through my archive and look at every meta I’ve ever had to write in response to the tags being filled with this general idea that Robb not only started a war he didn’t start, but is rash, overemotional in his thought, called the banners with the yearning all along to go to battle, is stupid, and basically a kid who acts completely outside the council of any rational adult. And if you tell me you don’t believe those things, I applaud you and I consider you a friend in fandom but…don’t for a second think you’re the majority. Like I said, I’ve been doing this for years. I’m pretty familiar with fan consensus.
