idek how to categorize this, I’m kind of just talking, but…
I see a lot of posts (both text and picture based) about Robb and/or Jon that kind of paint this idea that modern day Robb (and the whole Stark clan) would live in an urban city and dress like hipsters in really expensive, chic clothes and spend their time idk getting coffee and having existentialist conversations and going to local band shows. I mean am I the only person who can’t take that image of modern day Robb seriously? Are we forgetting about characters who would actually do those things, like Renly or Loras? I know they have money, but the Starks also have a house overflowing with children (and children suck up a lot of money, especially in modern times). But moreso…Robb as a hipster? lol. He’s got captain of the hockey/football team written all over him. And Winterfell may be the closest thing to a ‘city’ in the North but it’s still drastically rural compared to actual port cities (and cities only happen because of trade) like the Arbor, Old Towne and King’s Landing. Winterfell has no port of trade. It’s pretty much just forest and mud and snow. And the Starks are lords, but they really aren’t crazy wealthy or into fashion or books. They’re kind of more into hunting and horses and swords (which I would equate to modern day rifles). Which there actually is a subculture for already in this day and age. It’s not necessarily a ‘redneck’ culture either. It’s just rural. And I think that’s one of the things I love so much about Robb, is how much he values that kind of life and the simplicity of it. Yeah, stuff gets complicated for him but the entire time he constantly says he just wants to go back home.
I’m not trying to pick a fight or be like, you guys can’t think that omg you’re so stupid. ‘Cause lol. This is tumblr. Say whatever you want, that’s the point. I guess I just never see that side of the possibility of modern day Robb presented, so I’m presenting it.
